Intro:
A bout that has certainly gained fan interest in its build up sees Sophia Bush (Girls Friday) look to win this stable war now against Ana De Armas (LMW). Who is looking to build momentum for the League of Mighty Women stable. Which of these gorgeous actresses will emerge victorious here on Dubai Jumeirah Beach.
Heading into the contest both women gave their thoughts to the FCBA Networks Alicia Atout. First up Sophia Bush spoke to Alicia outside her stables tent where their fighters were changing. Sophia was wearing a white silk robe with her hands wrapped.
First she is asked about how things are going tonight. Sophia answers with a beaming smile "I am so glad we've started this war off so well. I am sad for Melanie (Sykes) that she has retired in-ring but it means we have extra motivation to win this event."
Alicia then asks about her opponent. Sophia pushes some loose hairs behind her left ear before she says "Ana is tough. I have witnessed her in the ring and she is vicious. Still I fancy my chances, I am the one with experience here, I am the one whose held a title before. Whether it be JMD, the beach or bare knuckle, Ana doesn't have my skill set." Sophia nods to Alicia before she heads into the tent.
Ana meanwhile gets her chance to give her thoughts outside the stables tent. She is wearing a lime green robe. She looks annoyed as she admits "things aren't going our way are they?" With a shrug of her shoulders as if to say what I can do about what's in the past.
Ana adds "Sophia is all I care about. I've heard fans talk about us as a sort of dream match. Sophia isn't in my league when it comes to looks, she might have held a title but one day she'll be retired watching me on top of the world holding a title. I prove in that ring that I belong in the conversation as the best." Looking fired up as she shakes her head before going into the tent.
Fighting time! Sophia begins her walk to the ring with her coach Hilary Swank behind her. Sophia is wearing a black and white striped bikini top, black bikini bottoms, black gloves and her hair in a ponytail. She steps into the ring looking focused as she bounces on her toes in her corner.
Ana doesn't make her wait long as she comes out with Ali Landry behind her. Ana is wearing a tan coloured bikini, black gloves and her hair in a ponytail. She climbs into the ring with eyes firmly locked onto her opponent. Ana has her shoulders massaged by Ali, who tells her to ignore what's happened and focus on winning this contest.
Both fighters walk to the center of the ring, there's tension between them as they stare hard into each others eyes. There's a hard fist bump exchanged before they return to their corners. Once ready the bell rings to begin 10 rounds of bantamweight action.
Round 1:
Both sling in jabs to start, getting a feel for each other as they stare hard at their opponent. Sophia gets in closer to land a left hook to the body. She gets clipped in return by a right hook though. Near the end of the opening minute, Ana slips a straight to land a left hook to the body, followed by an uppercut to knock Bush back a step.
That looks to have helped Ana gain confidence as she starts to land more combinations. Out working her older foe. Sophia getting more tighter with her guard, not wanting to be caught by a big shot this early in the fight.
Ana presses Sophia back into the ropes, pounding around her stomach with short body shots. Sophia pushes her off and spitefully lands a left across the jugs of Ana before moving into space. Both trading harder shots going into the dying moments of the action. Round ending soon enough with Ana starting this fight off brilliantly. Sophia needing to take a moment on her stool to think through this one.
Round 2:
Trading more punches in bunches as they fight around the middle of the ring. Sand is being knocked around as they box in a tight circle. Ana trying to keep the tempo up but Sophia showing her experience to lean out the way of a right hook, replying with a straight into Ana's face.
Pushing Ana back towards a neutral corner. Sophie it seems wants to get under her skin as she lands several body shots and sneaky punches around the jugs of Ana. Who responds by shoving her off and coming back at her. It nearly leads to a clash of heads as tempers flare up.
Less then a minute to go. Ana is starting to even out things with straight shots to the face of Sophia. Who responds by landing her own jab into the chest of Ana before landing sweeping rights over the top to the cheek of her opponent. The bell rings with both glaring at each other before they head to their stools.
Round 3:
Back at it they go with sweat coating their magnificent bodies. Ana slamming in hooks around the guard of Sophia to show she is desperate to hurt the older fighter early on. Sophia needing to crouch down to work the body of her foe with short hooks to her body. Both bumping into each other to try to force their rival back before they end up in a clinch.
They are broken up and once told to fight on, Ana is the quicker off the mark with a crisp jab/straight combo into the face of Bush to knock her back a step. Now it's Ana pressing the issue, hammering in several solid blows around to the ribs of Sophia to try to wear out the veteran.
Bush pushes off De Armas. Ana isn't letting her off the hook so easily. Forcing Sophia around the perimeter as Sophia is basically digging a trench in the sand as she moves side to side. The round ends with Ana looking fired up as she walks back to her corner. Sophia meanwhile taps her toes as she looks across the ring at her opponent, knowing she is in a fight and can't disrespect Ana.
Round 4:
Sophia comes out her corner sticking and moving as she tries to throw off Ana. Who nudges back Sophia when she can get in closer. Both slugging it out on the inside as Ana tries to keep the heat on Sophia. They clinch up again as Sophia looks to not let her younger opponent get her rhthym going.
Into the second minute of the round. Ana gets caught stepping in with a straight landing on her nose. That's followed by a left hook on her cheek as Sophia shows her teeth. Both trading but it's Ana being forced back as Sophia is walking her down.
Landing several crisp body shots. Sophia gets smacked back around her own torso as they nearly bump heads again trying to overpower their rival. Hisses and groans can be heard as they try to be the dominant force. The crowd cheer them on all the way till the bell rings to end the round. Pushing apart from each other to return to their corners. There's hints of frustration on both women's faces as they glare at each other.
Round 5:
Pushing off their stools, they exchange stiff single punches before Sophia gets back to sticking and moving. Ana looks put off as at times she is missing with sweeping shots as Sophia gets into space. Countering with straight punches into Ana's face to snap her head back.
Near the end of the first minute, Ana gets caught with a straight on her chin before a left hook lands around her ear to make her stumble two steps to the left. Ana looked hurt there as she is bashed back to the ropes. Sweat is flying off the Latina star as Bush is pinning her to the ropes.
After Ana clinches up to force the referee to step in to split them up. Ana is forced on the defensive as Sophia is looking to hurt her. Sophia isn't having as much success but she isn't getting as much thrown back at her like before. When the round ends Sophia is given a big smile by her coach. While Ana is checked over to see how hurt she is. Ali looks happy enough with her status as they give Ana a thumbs up.
Round 6:
On comes Sophia from the bell. Ana though showing her adaptability to slip punches and hammer in counter shots. A LEFT HOOK BURIES ITSELF CRUELLY INTO THE LIVER AREA OF BUSH! DOWN TO ALL FOURS GOES SOPHIA!
Ana showing how cruel this sport can be as she kicks some sand into the face of Sophia before walking to the neutral corner. 1....2....3... Ana leans against the turnbuckles of the corner as she stares hard at Sophia. 4....5... Who spits out her gumshield as she is breathing hard. 6....7....8... Shaking her head as she looks at the sand. 9....10 Sophia is counted out!
Winner Ana De Armas KO Round 6
After:
Ana finally gets her stable on the scoreboard. She heads over to Sophia to stand with a foot either side of the downed fighter. Ana making her point by flexing for the cameras so it is clear who won this bout. Once that is done Ana walks back to her corner smiling at Ali. Who tells her how great a job she did.
In the ring comes Hilary to check on Sophia. Soon an ice pack is placed onto the sore body of Sophia before she is helped to her feet. Getting cleaned up as she sits on a stool, Sophia looks annoyed about what just happened as she winces.
Soon enough Sophia has to watch Ana get her right hand raised in victory. Ana blowing Sophia a mocking kiss before the American is helped out the ring. Ana watching Sophia go with a grin, telling the nearest camera "I told you all I am the best" as she points at herself.
Sophia meanwhile will be embarrassed that she was the first to lose from her stable. Shaking her head as she walks to her stables tent with her head down. Hilary needing to console her fighter.
Ana on the other hand gets a big victory as she moves up the rankings. It'll be interesting to see what she can do with the bantamweight champion being her own stablemate. Ana could maybe look to the flyweight division or maybe a princess of the beach title. |
